C/1995 O1 (Hale-Bopp)

As noted previously, I viewed this comet a lot.  However, I could only find ONE sketch.  It is rough, but it showed a tail in my 10x50's.    I made no note of time on this, but I estimate the time to have been 5:00 to 5:15AM CST.  I believe that is precise enough for the naked-eye drawing.

This was a GREAT comet, especially in the northern hemisphere.  We could see it naked-eye easily for several months, even in city lights.  The tail was relatively short, but the comet was bright and the tail was naked-eye, and it hung around for quite a while.  I’d love to see more of these!

I distinctly remember driving to Chicago on business one Sunday night, looking out the window of the car and seeing this comet hanging up there.  Pretty cool.

Just wished I'd taken the time to draw it a little more...  Such was life with 3 little kids though.
