Beginning Astronomical Observing Course

posted Dec 15, 2009 8:05 AM by James Roe   [ updated Dec 15, 2009 8:20 AM ]
Starting Wednesday, January 27, 2010 and continuing for 4 more weeks (5 sessions in all), Jim Roe will teach a beginning astronomical observing class at the St. Charles Community College in Cottleville, Missouri.  The classes will run from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm each night with possible field trips to the observatory in Broemmelsiek Park (weather permitting).  Participants will learn how to find their way around the night sky, target lists, how to use binoculars and small telescopes.  There will be very little "theory" (ie, this is NOT a class in astronomy, per se).  The SCCC spring catalog was mailed to residents of St. Charles County a few weeks ago, but the catalog can be viewed on line at

The registration fee is $25 (I don't get paid anything), the course number is SPI 182-40 and you can enroll online at (beginning Jan 6)
